1.3 Megapixel Comparison

There are a few differences that would difference these cameras from one another even though they are all 1.3 Megapixel cameras. First of all, they have different chipsets on-board. The Bolide camera has a 1/3" Sony Ex-View CCD - the best and most expensive chipset among the three. The Arecont camera has a CMOS Chip but it is 1/2", an upgrade from Axis' 1/3" CMOS. As far as cameras resolution, all three are very similar, but keep in mind that the CCD chipset works better at night. Another important factor is the compression rate of each camera. Both Bolide and Arecont employs H.264 meanwhile the comparable Axis cameras does Motion JPEG. All the cameras can be powered over Ethernet.

The biggest advantage of the Bolide camera is the BNC Output and SD Card slot, both absent in competitors' cameras. These helps with easier installation via CCTV Tester, and video back-up on local SD card in case of power outage.
