Your Survival Guide to ISC West

Guess what security professionals? Its ISC West season again! From April 6-8, 2011, the largest US security exhibit hall gathers at Sands Expo & Convention Center in the hears of Las Vegas Nevada. Its a very exciting time for our industry as companies introduce new technology, products, and services. There is so much to see and hear over the trade show's 3-day span. Of course its Vegas, so you probably won't be sleeping much between show dates. Being there is an an amazing experience, but at the same time, the sheer size and length of the show can be demanding for any exhibitor or guest. Here are a few things to help last up to the end of ISC West.

1. Bring lots of bottled water - Las Vegas is a very dry place and you need to keep yourself hydrated during the show. A bottle of water at the show floor is about $ 3. Too much! The solution? Keep a case of bottled water in your hotel room and keep some in a backpack as you walk the show.

2. Wear comfortable shoes - This is a very large exhibit. Listen to Kobe and buy yourselves some Nike's or if you're wearing leather shoes, put some insoles in them. Here is the link to Dr Scholls!

3. Attend the ISC West networking events. It's a good way to meet new industry friends and the most out of your passes. Check the ISC West website for times and dates.

4. Make an itinerary. ISC West is like Disneyland, its huge and crowded. you should plan out how you will attack the floor and be able to see everything. Plan out what booths you really want to see and visit and keep a floor map with you. Aside from that, decide where do you want to kick it after the show!

5. Get a hotel room that's walking distance from the trade show. Taxis are a great way to travel in Las Vegas but if your hotel is close enough to walk to the show, why not? You can keep the money, gamble at the casinos, and win some more!

6. Collect free stuff! Booths give away a ton of freebies, take them!

7. Keep a bottle of alcohol at your hotel room. Its you... ummm... to... relax? Make sure you don't end up like the guy on this picture

8. Make sure you visit me and the Bolide Technology Group family at Booth # 8109!

I hopefully my tips will help you prepare for ISC West 2011. Have a good show! See you there!
